About the Author

Yang Cai is a computer scientist at Carnegie Mellon University, where he has taught graduate courses in cognitive video, multimedia, human algorithms, creativity, and innovation process. Cai is the founder of the Visual Intelligence Studio and author of the emerging theories of instinctive computing, ambient diagnostics, and empathic computing. He has hosted international workshops on ambient intelligence for scientific discovery, instinctive computing, digital human modeling, and video intelligence. He has been working on research projects with the National Science Foundation, NASA, the Air Force Research Lab, and various industries.

Jackaroo will stimulate the imagination and make readers marvel at Voigt's creative genius. She presents a carefully designed, mystery-filled plot which once again illustrates her abilities as a master storyteller. Characters are somewhat reluctant to reveal themselvesbut this is a most appropriate style for a tale of dangerous and uncertain times. This is the first book in the Kingdom series. The heroine is a strong character with a quixotic streak, who learns the difficulty of helping other people -- it's not as easy as it seems! The writing is elegant, the plot is interesting and unusual, the characterization is excellent and you quickly grow to care for her and her family. The Kingdom is well-imagined, and it's interesting to see how separate the lives of the nobles are from the common people. I have read this book three times over a 14 year period, and still enjoy it as much as ever.

If you are thinking about reading this book I urge you to stop thinking and start reading. I read it for the first time as a teenager and have read it again so many times since then. I get lost in the Kingdom each time I enter it and I find that I cannot stay away from the series for very long. I especially recommend it for girls who are looking for inspiration and are tired of the damsel-in-distress stories that are so often marketed toward girls and women. So, stop reading reviews and just read the book!

This is one of my favorite books in the whole world. I have read it at least a dozen times. A very thought provoking, dramatic almost-fairy tale that challenges how we view the world and the stories that shape it, through an admirable, strong and clever young woman's eyes. Highly recommend!

Why did I write My Toddler Talks? To help parents and professionals get their toddlers talking! When I first began treating toddlers who were delayed with their speech development, I struggled to find easy to understand, step-by-step guides for my parents to read. Collecting information from various resources was very cumbersome and trying -even then, I couldn't find practical and hands-on resources. So, I decided to write a workbook for my parents! My Toddler Talks is the culmination of several years of analysis of current research and work experience. I have completed all the play routines, performed all the techniques and strategies and continue to implement play routines and train current clients at my private practice Scanlon Speech Therapy, LLC.

About the Author
Kimberly is a New Jersey-licensed speech pathologist and is nationally certified by the American Speech and Hearing Association (ASHA). She is a creative thinker and a passionate therapist who believes that children should have fun in therapy. Kimberly has had the opportunity to hone her skills by working in various settings serving all ages, populations, and disorders. She is a two time recipient of ASHA's award for continuing education (ACE). Amazing book!

My 2 year old son is in speech therapy, and this book really coincides with the techniques we are learning from the speech therapist. This is great for me to continue working with my son in our home - the ideas in this book are excellent, with great specific instructions. The introduction is a must read - do not skip!

This book has been helpful to me as I teach young children who have speech and other developmental delays. This book will also be helpful to parents and professionals who work with children ages 0-3 years. The writer describes specific activities that will help toddlers develop language and communication. This is a very practical and hands-on book that will guide you to help your child or student develop in language and in other areas of development. The writer describes how to work with young children in a patient, sensitive, and loving way in order for each child to develop at their own pace. The writer combines a very strong understanding of child development with practical activities to help your child or students develop language in a fun way.

An excellent book to ace wall street quant interviews

What I like most about this book is that it has detailed step by step solutions to the many many real world interview questions included in it. It explains how to approach common (and many not so common) problems --from analyzing the problem, breaking it down to its parts, to arriving at a good answer.It changes the way one thinks rather than provide mechanical canned answers.. Unlike a few other books that have been in the market this one has greater breadth and depth.I'd recommend the book to both job seekers and interviewers.

Lots of quant interview questions and detailed solutions!

Anyone who's been to a quant finance interview knows how difficult some of the analytical and technical questions can be. I recently bought this book (thank you, Amazon Prime!) to prepare for an upcoming interview, and was really impressed by the 200+ questions the author has collected as well as provided detailed solutions for. I've definitely seen some of the questions in real before, so I believe the author when he says these are real-world questions. This is a valuable guide for anyone going into quant interviews. If you're a newbie to the quant job market, this book goes well with another book, written by this book's editor, called Starting Your Career as a Wall Street Quant: A Practical, No-BS Guide to Getting a Job in Quantitative Finance and Launching a Lucrative Career which is more about general advice and tips.
